Christmas 2008!

From Inspire

--> Here is a Christmas Entertainment to make you smile

Another year is coming to an end. Isn't it amazing how life is? This year has been a good one. I remember working at the Stanford Inn as a Housekeeper on the first 2 weeks of January, and before that month ended, I was back working for Mr. Farrell. I worked with him from late january until mid-April. That same month, I finally got my Landed Immigrant status and as a benefit of being a permanent resident, I was now allowed to study. So I quit my job and had gone back to school by June. During the summer, Ron and I got to travel a lot to Kamloops, Edmonton, Nelson, Calgary, Fort Saint John, Vancouver and we were able to do some a few hikes in Alberta (one of which I did in memory of my mom who passed away in September 2006) Summer was wonderful. We enjoyed visiting friends and Ron's Family. Although, I still haven't been able to visit any member of my family from the Philippines since 2006, at least the e-mails and the phone calls were comforting. This year my family had lost auntie Getty (mom's side), and also my uncle and another auntie (from dad's side). That was another sad moment for everyone in the family. I also had several car dramas this year which included the engine close to burning, and my brakes getting damaged and an enless list of problems that were costly. I stopped insurance on my car and will resume using my car again in the summer or when I will be in Cranbrook as a full time student. Ron has been on several lay-offs this year as well due to the Lumber Market Crisis affecting the sawmill where he works. But we are fine - Thank God. Here is wishing you all the best this holiday season and all the best for 2009 as well! I love you! Spread the love! Edgar (and Ron)

Deep within, I know that the only thing that's truly important is being in alignment with spirit. therefore, anything that's not of spirit such as fear, illness, worry, shame, anger and the like is not worthy of my attention

December 1-15, 2008 Photos

Dear Family and Friends, December is here once again. On my side of the globe, the weather had really turned winter now. It's time to once again "psyche" myself to love winter. I love winter. I love winter. I love winter. I love winter. *sigh* (maybe saying that will actually make me not mind winter as much). It is during this cold season that I wish I could be back in the perfect weather of Baguio City, Philippines. This year's summer seemed really short now that I try and recall. We were just so busy that time flew by so fast. My challenges are still the same of corse. School. Someday soon, I will complete my goals. Patience Edgar.

Early this month, I was falling asleep in class, so I decided to go out for a 15 minute walk to wake myself up. I remember having the wrong footwear (Runners) and my feet started getting really cold. Plus It was awkward walking, because my shoes do not have very good traction. I didn't want to slip. I took tiny steps. It looked funny. Lesson learned. When I got home, I went to the shed to retrieve my winter boots along with the rest of my winter jackets, and long johns, Scarf, Toque - the whole works. I know how miserable it gets not having the right clothes during winter time.

I found this at the waiting area in a clinic in Fernie.

Something about this photo that makes me sad. Can you tell what I'm am thinking?

The Lucky Star - Cranbrook, BC.

Frank.

Today I decided to make a shelf. It felt good to create something. The finished product was a bit rough looking though. (I didn't paint it, or sand it - but it did what it was meant for) This was just the start of the "construction". It was fun. The shelf only cost me $3.75. All the materials are from scraps at the shed. It's good to recycle.

The Filipino Christmas Party at the Saint Mary's Hall in Cranbrook, BC. There were a lot of people there! The Filipino community seemed to have doubled in the four years that I have been here. There's a lot of new workers.

I Decided to create a blog for the Filipino Community in the area. I don't know if it will be utilized by the people concerned, but I'm just hoping maybe it could help. In some ways, bring the Filipino community together. No one else has volunteered to help manage the site, or contribute to it. I hope that will change in time.

I was browsing the web one morning, and found (through another person's blog) that my winning photo in the BC 150 photo contest was already in the "London Drugs BC150 2009 Photo Calendar". I spotted my photo on the cover of the calendar. It made me happy. I do not think London Drugs is going to even send me a copy. It cost $29.95 and proceeds are going to help the Children's fund.

The lake is now frozen.

You see how cold it is now? Minus 24 degrees Celsius

Walked to the Hilltop one evening to buy some beer. FReezing cold! My face felt frozen! It was just a 7 minute walk!

Walking one evening to the store.

Outside the Kitchen window. Just to show you how cold it is! We couldn't open the window. It was frozen stuck.

December 14, 2008 - Ron's birthday today! He is now 54. We had prime rib roast! and we had a great time at home. It was fun! That's my e-mail for now. Hope you enjoyed the photos. Sending you all my love. Big Hugs, Edgar

November 16-30 , 2008

Dear Friends and Family,

I can't believe it, November is over! Pretty soon, it's going to be Christmas! I hope you enjoy the latest photos for the 2nd part of November. I am still working on my Biology. It's driving me crazy sometimes. But oh well, no pain, no gain. Do keep in touch! Love you all!

I went to the dentist and found out that I needed some teeth done. Pretty expensive! $250! This is dentist's lamp. When he went to answer the phone (He was working on my teeth that time), I decided to take a photo while I was lying there waiting for him to come back. He hehe.

The dental team in Fernie. The guy in orange is Dr. Demmings. He only does white fillings. Most Medical Insurance do not cover white fillings, so be warned. It could be quite pricey.

Cookie anyone? - Hmmmm. It made me happy.

Roses at the grocery store. I just thought they were pretty.

Ron going into a restaurant in Cranbrook, BC. I took this as we were going in for dinner that time.

A Very Formal Dinner in Cranbrook. $129.00 per head. But that counted $50.00 donation. This was the 26th Annual Museum Fund raising Event. 2008 Pre-Christmas Gala Dinner at the Royal Alexandra Hall, at the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel in Cranbrook, BC.

This was our table. The hostess said "Just so everyone knows, we start with the utensils from the outside going in" and everyone laughed. I'm sure that was meant to be funny, but I needed to know that! hahahah! *blush*

A Quartet named "The Baker Street" singing some Christmas songs. They were good!

A politician was talking in front.

The ceiling as seen from where I was sitting. I was told (If I remember it right) that this entire hall was actually a product of restoration from an old hotel in the early 1900's in Manitoba . Beautiful isn't it?

After the dinner. We had so much fun. It was cold outside. About minus 5 degrees Celcius. I took this from where we had parked, just before we headed home.

I found a site on the internet that's supposed to make a "South Park" cartoon of people. This was my cartoon. Hmmmmm. What do you think?.

Today Ron comes home from his long Vacation. I am so excited for his homecoming that I decided to make an art wall. Lots of meas...
