Air Travel

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: Taken at the Cranbrook International Airport. My flight with Pacific Coastal is scheduled for this morning at 7:05 AM. I should be arriving in Vancouver in an hour and 30 minutes to connect with my 12:50PM Air China Flight to the Philippines.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday : Security Check is done. Waiting to board flight.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: Now inside the domestic plane. Quite a small aircraft really.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: I smell burning plastic. It smelled like burning rubber. I thought at first it may be normal. But when the smell got worse only minutes later I asked "is that smell normal?" None of my fellow passengers spoke up.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: The smell of burning plastic lingered. The pilots weren't saying anything. about 15 minutes later, the Pilot announces "Ladies and Gentlemen I would like to request everyone in the passenger aircraft to step outside."

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday : Outside the plane

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday : Pilot announces outside we have to go back into the terminal and wait for a replacement aircraft. Everyone had a worried look on their faces.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday : Other passengers waiting.... and waiting and waiting....

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: Ron and I decide to go to Cranbrook for a quick run about. Ron said the burned plastic smell is stuck on my jacket makes him want to puke. So we went to Tim and Eric's house and put my jacket in the drier for a few minutes with a fabric freshener hoping to get the burned plastic smell would come off.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: More than 4 hours later, my flight with Pacific Coastal resumes. We fly out of Cranbrook. I'm so worried about missing my connecting flight with Air China at 12:50 PM. I try to think positive. Hoping.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday : Hmmmmm.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday : Vancouver Airport. I missed my flight. This was a very stressful time for me.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday. I went to the Air China Office and the lady there seemed the least interested in helping me. She gave me a piece of paper to call a 1800 number and told me the next flight will be in 2 days. Oh boy...

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: Exploring my options. What now? Oh Shoot!!!!

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: If I cancel with Air China, I lose money

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: If I book another flight with another airline it would cost me $1,850 and that's just a 1-way ticket. Hmmmm. Philippine airlines is one of the most expensive. Not nice considering it is the flag carrier. Awful

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday : That's what I felt like - that balloon that was stuck at the airport ceiling.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday : Crashing at my friend's home in Vancouver: I chose to wait 2 days and thank God Daryl was able to help me out. I had a place to stay until I get to my flight on the 30th. I can rest easy now. What a headache Pacific Coastal was. The delay cost me to miss my flight and stay 2 more days in Vancouver and $$$. However good news is that Pacific coastal had informed me they will re-imburse some of the expenses. Hmmm We will find out.

December 28, 2010 - Tuesday: At Daryl's home. Thanks so much!
